Booking a Shoot

As a photographer, my goal isn’t just to create beautiful images.

My real goal depends on you.  It might be to create interest in a person; to build desire for a product; to increase bookings for an actor or actress; to let a loved one see you in a new light; to build your online fanbase, or just to create a photo of you that looks better than anything you’ve seen before.

So every shoot starts with a discussion about what you’re really looking for and how to achieve it. We’ll generate and refine ideas on both sides until everyone knows what we’re aiming towards.

My particular areas of expertise are:
- Portraits
- Fashion and beauty
- Action and fantasy/adventure
- Boudoir and fetish
- Modelling portfolios
- Headshots/portraits for celebrities, actors, etc.

For corporate work I combine my photographic skills with a deep understanding of marketing – please contact me directly to discuss your requirements.

About the Shoot

Having your photo taken can be a daunting prospect, but my role isn’t just managing the lenses, lighting and composition. A huge part of what I do is bringing out the very best in you as the subject. I’ll work with you, explain the different aspects of body language and expression, and coach you to give a “performance” that you’ll be proud of. Then we’ll go through the photos together, so that we can pick out the ones that work best for your face and body, and the style we’re trying to achieve.

The Studio

I generally shoot at my home studio, which is attached to a beautiful Grade II listed Manor House in Warwickshire with excellent links to London and Birmingham.  However I’m happy to shoot in London too and I love working on location (subject to studio/travel costs).  I’m also an expert at taking a photo of you in the studio then moving it to any location you can imagine!

Rates

The cost of a shoot is £375, including VAT. This includes 6 retouched photos on CD or by email. Please note that a non-refundable booking fee of £150 must be paid in advance. I can’t confirm your shoot until this fee has been paid in full.

The shoot will generally last 2-3 hours, but the clock is never ticking. The most important thing is that we get the right result. I also put a great deal of time and effort into retouching each shot, and it’s better to have 6 amazing images than 100 that are just OK. For that reason I’m afraid I don’t release unretouched images.

Optional extras include:

  • Makeup & hair: £75
  • Additional retouched images: £20 each
  • More complex retouching (e.g. compositing onto new backgrounds): supplement of £35 for each image treated in this way

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to get my photos?
I will generally finish processing your photos within a week after you have finalised your choice.  More complex work such as compositions take a lot of time and you should allow 2-3 weeks for these.

Can I do a shoot with a friend?
Yes, I’m happy to shoot couples or two friends together within the same 2-3 hour timeframe. If you wish to book a longer shoot (e.g. in order to do individual images as well), there is a 50% supplement and you will receive 9 retouched images instead of 6.

Can I bring someone along?
Yes, I’m happy for you to have someone with you on the shoot, though you will get more out of it (and be less self-conscious) if you can come alone.  If you do bring someone, they’ll need to stay in the prep/makeup area while the shoot is going on.

Who owns the images?
Copyright for images shot in the UK belongs to the photographer, but our agreement gives you the right to use them in most ways. Commercial uses (e.g. selling the images) would need a further agreement – I’d be happy to discuss.  I reserve the right to use images within my portfolios, unless agreed otherwise in writing prior to the shoot.

Book as a gift!

If you’re stuck for a birthday present, why not create an image as a gift for a loved one, or arrange a shoot for them as an amazing gift!  We’ll throw in some bubbles and make it an amazing day.

Get in Touch!

If you have any questions, would like to discuss a shoot, or are ready to book, please drop me a note here or using the form on the menu to the left.  Tell me a little bit about the type of shoot you would like to do, what you’d like to achieve from it, and any images that particularly inspire you.  If you have a link to a Facebook or similar page, that helps too :)

Alternatively, you can drop me a note on Facebook, Model Mayhem, etc.
