Like most of us, I've been taking photographs all my life, and some of them were even pretty good.  But it's only fairly recently that I've taken what I would consider a serious interest in photography.

It has been a delight to learn a new skill.  Not long ago I couldn't have told you much about apertures, shutter speeds, lighting setups and composition, and I certainly never ventured anywhere near any buttons that said "Manual" on a camera.  Walking into a shop and seeing a shiny Nikon D300 changed all that for ever... hey, I'm a guy.  We're talking serious toys here!

At the same time, it has also been a delight to tap into a side of my creativity that I knew was there, but has been a bit dormant for a while now.  If you've ever looked at something you wrote or made or cooked, or listened to something you said or played or sang and went "wow!", then you'll know what I mean.
